Also optimizations on a Macintosh G4 or G5 computer are about twice as fast. For those who don't know about FLAC, it is a Lossless audio compression that allows you to compress audio files without any loss in quality. The only drawback is most digital audio players don't support the format, but audio players such as Winamp do support it.<br /><br /> <img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/flac_logo.jpg" />

FLAC is amazing...if only more players supported it. The way they compress it is amazing

But, how much does it compress? I've always felt these things were like glorified versions of ZIP..

How much does it compress? Do you mean - you would like to see file size differences? There are some statistics on their Features, Goals and Comparison pages.
