I'm talking about the video edited type, not the actual thing!

Does anyone know what editing products allow you to create them? I'd love to fool around with making them. If you'd like a fun example, check out this AtomFilms clip:

Thanks!

Actually you can buy "real" ones that can give the actual effect when filmed.

Try

and look at the Force FX editions

I have three of these and they look totally real, both on film and in person.

Whoa! I'd love to have one, but for $120 I can get another 512 of RAM or some nice digicam accessories.

Do you have a demo video?

No, but I will see what I can do when I get home tonight.

Have not had the chance to make anything up, but thinkgeek sells these and there are a couple of action shots on their page.

$499 at masterreplicas.com for the light saber? WOW! 8O I have to (sheepishly) admit that I have three light sabers (green, blue and the double-sided red) each worth about $20.

I don't think you are looking at the right thing. The $499 ones are EXACT replicas of just the hilt. These are things you just put in a display case on a shelf. You want the Force FX edition which is a near replica but has a light up blade. Those are around $100.
