The device will feature technology from both OpenTV, a leader in interactive television, and Ucentric Systems who produces a suite of Whole Home Entertainment software applications, with similar products to Voom's in the pipeline from Samsung and Motorola."

DirecTV and Dish Network both have HD DVRs so this announcement isn't unexpected. I've never been impressed with OpenTV's offerings, but I've never seen their "products" on a DVR before. Maybe this is just what is needed to move forward HD DVRs and get them into more homes, forcing networks to provide more content.
