Well, mayby not 'here' yet. No real surprises, since there were so many leaks.

CF
2.5" LCD
100 - 3200 ISO
6.1 MP
Anti-Shake :werenotworthy:
1/4000th (Insert Complaints Here)
Flash Sync - 1/160 sec (with AS off)
1/125 sec (with AS on)
Looks like this may be with the on-board flash. An external HS fash may get you the 1/4000th we have learned to love.
RAW / RAW+JPEG: 3 fps, up to 9 frames - Nice Buffer

Only questions remain
- How Much (around the 20D??)
- When (Mid November????) I am going to imploy Bart and Lisa to use the "Can we have a pool, Dad?" trick.
- Does it take a good picture at the 400 - 1600 ISO range!!! (?????)

One more question. WHERE IS MINE??????

Alright! I'm ready to get on with this. I love my Minolta Maxxum 600si film camera and have been waiting for this to come out before moving on a digital SLR. Once I can read some reviews, lay my hands on one, etc., I'll finally be able to decide whether I'm sticking with Minolta (and saving the cost of new lenses) or jumping ship to Canon or Nikon. So far, I really like the looks of the 7D (just based on the details in your link) and will be surprised if I end up moving elsewhere. This looks very promising. Of course, no price yet...

Well that was an understatement!!! I really thought I would have one by Turkey day. (The US version not the Columbus Day version)

I am loyal to my camera shop so I am waiting. Could of ordered with Dell or somebody and might have had it my now.

I've been a good boy really i have. Can I have it now??

It's been on sale for about 2 weeks here. Price is about US$1390 for body only. Not a bad price for it, and having handled a D7 film SLR before I'd say the egronomics are good and features are most interesting.

Nice! Is that Mono Lake?

Nope. Lake Mead, above Hoover Dam. I haven't been to Mono Lake yet. I was in Vegas for business. Not a big Casino person so I plotted all the Minolta dealers on my Pocket PC, hooked up the GPS and drove around till I found some one that had the camera.

I live in Ohio and there isn't enough snow for cool pictures so the cold isn't worth the venture outside with the camera.

Before I go on, I think the thread has gone off topic.. can someone help move this and the previous 3 posts to a new topic on the D7D?

Back to the D7D, does (IIRC) pressing the AEL button togehter with the DISP button show anything?

I didn't seem to do anything. I just pulled the 7 Film manual. I'll look and see what I can find. I shoud pull the A1 and A2 manuals as well. I have seen key combos that are not in the D7D manual that work on the A1 & A2 to bring up firmware info and such.

Well, basically, on the D7, you'll get this: http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=557626

I found the section on the honeycomb output for under/over. Looks intersting. I am pretty sure it is gone. I tried a bunch of key-combos.

What is interesting is that no D7 users are complaining about the loss of this or the DOF scale.

Before anyone had their hands on the D7D there was a lot of complints about the missing top data panel but I don't think many used the DOF scale or the exposure levels. There was more talk about the loss of the eye start.

The Dynax 7 never had a top data panel, did it? I recall everything was off the rear LCD.. the top LCD was a small one, showing only film count, I think.

I think both features have their place even in the digital age, and losing them is a real pity.. more so than eye start, if you ask me!

The Top Data Panel gave SS and f-Stop.

I have a friend that has 2 Film D7s and just got the digital version. I'll ask him if he used those functions.

My guess is the DOF scale would be good for the newbies and the more familure you become with your lens the more you 'know' them. And since newbies normally don't buy a dSLR or even the Film D7 they found it wasn't used.

Nice article on the front page today.!

Ah, ok, that is fairly useful.

Thanks. Hope you found it useful.

I'd think the DOF scale would be useful in a zoom, or if you're using a lot of focal lengths, as well as if you shoot a lot in different situations.
