Control Your TiVo Over The Web

SnapStream's Beyond TV3 has the COOLEST feature in this regard: you can, by using a WAP-enabled or HTML-enabled phone/PDA, log into the SnapStream.net service and create recording jobs. It's VERY cool! :D

Very cool, I did not know that that existed. However, it would be more interesting if there was a tiny little webserver running on your PVR so you could log into it directly. That way, you can be guranteed of your recordings even if the Snapstream.net service is down or interrupted.

Ah, but then you have to hassle with firewalls, ports, IP addresses, etc. Not user friendly at all. I think the SnapStream.net approach is the most well-balanced one. I'm sure they work hard to keep the service up and running. :-)

Yeah, I guess that is true in that you have a dedicated sysadmin instead of trying and administering the box yourself.
