The service will shortly offer users the capability to share their photos through an easy-to-use online form. No registration, installation or membership is required to use LookWow. Being a web-based service, features are never out-of-date. Users simply go to the LookWow web site and they will always have the latest updates. LookWow works with any browser and is operating system independent. LookWow is a Java™ and PHP-based web application created using patent-pending image filtering and processing technology."

In truth all this service does is download a Java applet to your computer where you can perform simple tasks on your photographs. There really isn't anything impressive here, but it does seem to have most of the tools that you'd want in a simple photo editor (including a red-eye reduction tool). There are tons of free software out there that do this and most of them do it better. Of course being Java, LookWow will run on any computer (not just windows).

I'm not bookmarking this site just yet, but we might only be a year away from a Photoshop Elements type program being available on the web.
