While the Microsoft entry has a few nice touches, it is typical of many brand-new Microsoft products -- fairly basic and bland, but marred by some rookie mistakes and accompanied by promises to get much better over time."

On the eve of the launch of Microsoft's new online music service later today, it's already getting its first less than positive review. Which isn't surprising considering this is Microsoft's first such venture. It's going to be quite interesting to see just how successful it will be compared to iTunes, and now Real Networks who has already sold more than a million songs.

Keep your eyes open for the official launch of Windows Media Player 10 as well.
