Has anyone tried this program before? I would like to find a cataloging software that keeps track of digital audio, audio cds, dvds, ebooks and paper books. This seems like a good program but kind of pricey

I haven't tried it myself, but it does look comprehensive. Software like this isn't "mass market" (i.e.: not everyone will buy it), so the price will always be a little high because it's so specialized.

I tried out the free demo of the CD database and it worked very well. I just couldn't bring myself to spend the money for it. I agree with Jason that these type of programs are a market niche, but personally I think that Collectorz is gouging its customers. Their DVD software is $39.95 for something that resembles the free DVD Profiler program.

But, by the same token, having one interface for all of the programs would be nice. If you do buy the software, let us know your thoughts on it.

That's the thing, I'm not sure if I'm willing to pay that much either, unless it has some really good integrated functionality.

Are there some more mainstream solutions out there?

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any other solutions, albeit I didn't look very hard for the solution.

My alternative solution was to export my WMP playlist of "All Music to excel using the Windows Media Player export in the winter funpack. Since I have all my CD's ripped to WMP, it gave me a decent catalog. The Winter Pack can be found here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/windowsmediaplayer/expert/mediainfoexp.mspx

Looks like you can also take it to a MS Access database with a free tool here:

Not the greatest solution, but it is free. If I get a chance, I will spend some time on google looking for other solutions.

For mp3, wma and ogg files I use Abee mp3 database organizer (http://abeetech.com/mp3-database-organizer/).
It's absolutely FREE
It creates a CHM file where the songs are grouped by artist, album etc.
Very easy to search any title.
