<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.retropod.com/' target='_blank'>http://www.retropod.com/</a><br /><br /></div>"The god damned hipsters have struck again -- and this time, it's portable. The Retropod is a, uhm, retrofitting of older Sony "Sports Walkmans" that is probably the very least functional case for iPods I've ever seen. All you get is a headphone out, and you have to open up the case to get to the controls. Even the inline remote won't work, because of the way the headphone extender works. But hey, their models are cute and that goes a long way, even if I can smell the reek of Pabst right through the JPEG."<br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/retropod.jpg" /> <br /><br />I can't think of anything that was cooler in the late 80's, early 90's than a bright yellow Sony Walkman on your hip. Sure an iPod is cool, but what can be cooler than an iPod in a Sports Walkman?<br /><br />Ah, maybe not, but I do have a broken yellow Sports Walkman I'm going to pull apart tonight... :silly:

All day and all night...

I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous. Why would someone want to look like a total dork with this big, bulky thing? Maybe each case should come with a free pair of bell bottom pants. :P

Used to make my own mixes by recording songs off the radio. The hard part was waiting for the song you wanted to finally come up and unpausing it fast enough.

OK, I must be a loser, because this is cool.

Not $100 cool, but enough to make me want to try it with my old walkman.

OT: Jason, where is that "under rock" emoticon so I can crawl under it?

And it only held like .1% of the music. Plus, inflation adjusted, it probably cost what an ipod does.

Nah, you're not a loser because you'd wear one. Maybe a dork, but not a loser. Just kidding!!! I'm sure you're a great guy.

I'd just rather go the sleek, sexy route.

That would make this the 70's. They were not cool when the Sports Walkman was available.

Actually, it would also be the early 80's, although they were starting to die off then. But I know, because as a kid in the early 80's, some stores were still selling them - I was goofy enough back then to buy and wear a pair.

I do remember the Walkmans back then. I had one that recorded, too... ooooh, aaaaahhh.

Actually, I think the main purpose would be to disguise the fact that you have an iPod. I mean, what self respecting mugger would mug someone for a 1980's walkman?

I never could afford a Sony. I had to make do with lesser brands.

...bought some parachute pants a *week* before they went out of style, I kid you not...got to wear them once
