It took awhile but check out Real's website for their Real Video export plugin that will work with a variety of Mac programs (Quicktime Pro, Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Cleaner 6 etc.) and let you export video clips to Real Video format. I have tried it with a brief .avi clip taken with my Cannon photo camera and the results were pretty good.
