<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.apple.com/displays/' target='_blank'>http://www.apple.com/displays/</a><br /><br /></div>"Apple today unveiled a new family of widescreen flat panel displays featuring the 30-inch Apple Cinema HD display, a professional-quality, wide-format active-matrix LCD with 2560-by-1600 pixel resolution—the largest high resolution display ever created. Rounding out the new lineup are new 23-inch and 20-inch Cinema Displays, offering creative professionals and prosumers the highest quality flat panel displays in the industry. The new displays feature dual FireWire® and dual USB 2.0 ports built into the display and use the industry standard DVI interface for a pure digital connection with Apple’s latest Power Mac® and PowerBook® systems, as well as PCs with a DVI connector. Two 30-inch Cinema Displays can be driven simultaneously from Apple’s new Power Mac line of desktop workstations, offering professional users a desktop of 8 million pixels."<br /><br />A picture is worth a thousand words. Feast your eyes on these beauties. Unfortunately, they start at a wallet busting $1,299 for the 20" model, up to $3,299 for the 30". Which begs the question...what happens to the existing 15" and 17" models? Are those being discontinued? <br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/cinemadisplay.jpg" />

That screenshot looks perfect for a Goldilocks scenario, and I certainly want to be papa bear. ;-) Oh man, I want that 30" display so badly.

I'm so glad they went back to DVI. Somewhere I read that it was a requirement to have a 30" display.
Sure wish I could find that story... :(

Conspicuously missing are new 15 and 17" models. I sure hope those are in the works, otherwise Apple is shooting itself in the foot to some extent. Not everyone needs a 20-30 LCD.
Then again, it matters not to me. I just wish they would revamp the damned iMac line already!!!!

I have to agree with you on that one. Asking your buying audience to fork over $1299 for your "entry level" external LCD is a little bit much to ask. Granted, they are beautiful!!!, but there's probably a bigger market for 15/17" monitors at $699, than there is for 20" at $1299.
Oh I wish I could figure out a way to justify a 30" monitor. Love the bit off to the side about the new supporting graphics card from NVIDIA "Even better, it can drive two 30-inch displays..." 8O

Well, looky here... (http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=512)
According to sources, the new 30-inch display could not be powered through the company's traditional Apple Display Connector (ADC), and as a result the revised models are said to feature a new Digital Visual Interface (DVI) connector.

Yes, I would need to get a full-time job to be able to even afford one of those displays... no, wait -- one job couldn't suffice -- better get two jobs...
