Research firm The NPD Group reveals that the number of U.S. CD buyers who have also bought music digitally has "more than tripled" so far in 2004, with just under 5 percent of CD buyers now saying they have used such services. Just 1.7 percent of CD buyers also used these services in 2003."<br /><br />Not surprising, but nice to hear, because hopefully it will mean more selection, less restrictive DRM, and better prices from online music stores. Let's see how DMT readers rank...

Don't do that. You made me spit water all over my laptop! You know damn well we'll all be using are MD players in 2 years and Mac users need not apply.

When I buy music I usally do it digitialy. It's way easer for me casue the nearest music store is over a hundred miles away.

We in Finland have recently gotten our "own" online music store called Biisi.fi.

The good with it, is that they have Finnish artists available for buying and you can buy music without a credit card (using instant wire transfers, which is more secure also). However, the bad overweighs the good:
You must download a Windows PC only program to listen to the DRM songs called: e-3™ MediaKit
You can only burn the songs, not transfer them to a Pocket PC or iPod
They don't list any artist they have got inside, you must register to see them.

IMHO, it stinks. :x I'll wait for Apple and Napster to come to Europe before even considering buying music online...

Don't worry, I believe OD2 might be launching there in the near future and their platform doesn't have any of the problems you have just mentioned. (their platform currently powers sites like MSN UK Music Club)

My first experience with OD2 this week has been anything but pleasurable.

Sure sounds user-friendly!

The only thing I can suggest is if you burn the music to a CD, you can then convert it to MP3 for listening on your PPC or iPod.

The other issues just plain stink!
