"It is able to deliver genuine and perceptible quality improvements by automatically correcting images for distortion, chromatic aberrations, vignetting and blur." It can be thought of as a ‘software corrective lens’ for your DSLR,” explains Dr. Frederic Guichard, DO Labs’ Chief Scientist. In this article, luminous-landscape.com reviews the software.

DxO has mathematically analyzed the lens and body properties of a range of digital camera bodies and lens combinations, and then used those measurements to correct for the above mentioned anomalies in images caused by lens distortion, blur and other aberrations. Once you have identified the correct lens and camera body combination (called a module - figure above shows the module manager), "all you have to do next is to press Start. Files that you have loaded will be processed and transferred to the directory of your choice. You can simultaneously process images done with different camera bodies and different lenses, but of course you have to have purchased the necessary modules."

DxO Optics seems like a fantastic program, especially given the price. This is a good review of the program and the examples of the corrected images are especially fun to look at. Interestingly, dpreview.com is also reporting that this piece of software will be available starting May 24th.
