Canon has improved the color gamut, the output resolution and made print even faster. I personally own the Canon i9100 and the output from the new i9900 is noticeably more impressive, especially the reds and greens. It's not the same as using the vivid printing effect or increasing the overall saturation, these prints just have more visual "punch." There's no doubt that the addition of the Red and Green inks have expanded the already photo-realistic output of Canon's 6-color printing system. The only downside is that you now have to buy more ink tanks, eight versus six, but thankfully they're replaced individually and only when needed."<br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/canoni9900-smaller.jpg" /><br /><br />I think I have a new printer to lust after now. :D

I will be interested in seeing how this compares with the Epson 2200. My Dad has on and its very impressive, but Canon printers are so much faster that I'm sure Epson will have to do something soon.

Damn, that was quick. Spur of the moment decision?

I'd actually ordered it before I saw this, I've been thinking about since I heard about a few months back. This just reassured me I'd done the right thing.

Will do, once I actually get it. I ordered it from a company I hadn't used before that claimed to have it in stock, however they left me voicemail earlier and when I called back their customer service telephone system just hung up on me once it had told me the next reprasentative would answer my call! When I finally managed to get a number and the right DTMF options to talk to someone they told me that they were almost closed and everyone was going home and he didn't seem to care, then he told me that actually they didn't have any in stock, but would have some by Friday... So I cancelled and ordered from Buy.com who although more expensive I have much more faith in!
