Not another cat metaphor? Apple CEO Steve Jobs will discuss the next major release of OSX, codenamed "Tiger", at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 28. <br /><br />"Each major revision of Mac OS X to date has introduced new technologies and a more refined user experience, in addition to new features. While Apple is mum on specific details of the upcoming preview Apple Vice President of Worldwide Developer Relations, Ron Okamoto told MacCentral on Monday that many of the "To Be Announced" sessions at WWDC would be filled with Mac OS X Tiger technology sessions.<br /><br />WWDC will host close to 200 technical sessions, including an in-depth look at the latest Mac OS X technologies, hands-on labs with the latest Mac systems, expanded tracks on Enterprise IT and a dedicated track for QuickTime developers and content creators."<br /><br />I'm going out on a limb and predict we won't see Tiger this year. My best guess it will launch sometime in Q1 or Q2 2005, still well ahead of Microsoft's Longhorn. I assume Tiger will be Apple's shot across the bow to Microsoft. Stay tuned, this should be interesting.

You gotta hand it to Apple, they release upgrades pretty quickly. MSFT might have a supper-dupper OS in the works, but by the time they release it we will have OSXI Puma

Heh, I don't see how he could possibly mispronounce TIGER. Seriously, I wish Jobs would move onto a different naming scheme. The cat metaphor is a getting a bit old....and downright silly. Pretty soon he'll be down to domestic house cats. OSX Calico anyone? :?

Yea, I'd rather see things from (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whistler-Blackcomb_Resort) the great northwest...

subtile, no (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whistler)? ;)
