On Wednesday when Apple released a new version of its iTunes Jukebox software, the company also announced new artist additions to the Music Store as well. One of those artists turned out to be one of my favorite bands, The Foo Fighters (contrary to popular opinion, I didn't choose my nickname based on the band  ). But when I purchased one track off an album, I got a little surprise. The AAC file was corrupt. It actually turned out to be two different tracks that were somehow accidently fused together. The play time starts out in the negative range, -5:43 or something like that, and then counts down to the next song which was the one I purchased. And that song is truncated, ending halfway through.
Apparently I am not alone. Several posters in the iTunes message board had similar experiences. Apple has since fixed the issue, but never contacted any customers who purchased these flawed tracks to issue a warning or resolution. I did send a message to customer service alerting them to the problem but I yet to hear back from them. If anyone else out there got burned like I did, please contact customer service right away to resolve this situation. I'll keep you posted.
