OK, I have Finaly decided to get serious about shotting my video and learn what the heck I am doing. is there a good place or book to read about beginning digital video. I have have a digital mini dv camcorder for about two years and have done some stuff even put a little of it on DVD but would like to really learn my stuff. different settings and how and why they work. I know that I have along way to go and alot to learn but just looking for some good guidance to get me started.

I wrote a book on digital video that might be of help to you:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0735618739/qid=1073878585//ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i0_xgl14/103-0848233-6644604?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

In terms of learning all the settings and what they do, that will vary from camera to camera. Depending on which camera you have, there might not be that many controls for you to fiddle with. ;-)

Apart from reading Jason's fine piece of technological literature, I advise you to experiment and find out what works and what doesn't since all cameras are different and all video needs are different too. If you need any help though, feel free to ask away!
