Hi.

I figured this would be the best forum to post a plea for help from the gurus of digital cameras. I'm looking to get a new digital camera, and while I'm not thinking about going into professional photography or anything, I want it to be nice. Right now I'm using a Logitech 510 (go ahead, laugh - its been good to me). Here is what I'd like:

1. I like the body style of the Kodak DX6490 (http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=1337&pq-locale=en_US) and prefer this style body (preferably with the flip flash).
2. I want something that can take pictures between 3.5 and 5 megapixels. Nothing fast moving (i.e. sports) but just general pictures of nature, people, places, etc..
3. Rechargeable batteries are a must.
4. It needs to support SD / MMC cards.

So I'm open to suggestions. My price range is between $350 and $500.

Thanks everyone,
Jon.

That last requirement closes a few cameras to you, but for superzooms, you have

1. HP 945
2. That Kodak
3. Minolta Z2

And I think this might be slighly above $500

4. Panasonic FZ-10

FWIW, my boss is using the Kodak you mention and he likes it a lot. I've seen some pics from it and they're quite nice. The 10x zoom is great!

Well, I looked all the models over and eventually purchased the Kodak. I've been very happy with it. If anyone wants to see some samples of it, check out my Fotki albums. With the exception of the album from Summer 2002, the rest of the public pics are from this Kodak, including some fairly impressive zoom shots.
