Like most folks, I'm interested in preserving the best video quality I can. I assume I should be pulling video in DV-AVI format. Is there a difference in pulling video in this format from different computers? I assume that regardless of video memory, RAM or CPU if the machine is capable of capturing the file, the quality should remain the same since there is no analog to digital conversion going on. Am I misleading myself? I have a laptop running XP Pro and Windows Movie Maker 2. It's got 512 MB RAM, a 1.3 GHz PIII and a 32MB video card. Will I see any difference using a high end desktop configured for DV using Premiere Pro if all I'm doing is pulling the DV file from the camera?
Where does hardware start making a difference assuming you're not doing an analog to digital capture? Again, my focus is on video quality not speed.
Thanks,
Rob
