RenderMan is Pixar's 3D design and animation software used on feature animation films like Toy Story and Monsters Inc. This software has also been used by Industrial Light and Magic on such films as Men In Black II, Minority Report, and Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.

This news also comes on the heals of another recent announcement from Pixar of its move to G5 workstations for production work. Now the pieces are all coming together, so to speak.

RenderMan is very high-end software to say the least. So if you plan on acquiring a license to create your own amateur film, be prepared to shell out $3,500.
