I have two questions:

* Are music videos covered under the same US privacy and copyright protection laws as songs?

* What if the videos are made in other countries? I really like to download a lot of music videos made in Europe, most of which aren't even available for purchase anywhere, especially in the US. These videos are typically shown on overseas music channels and programs, such as VivaTV, MTVE, TMF, etc.

Again, I'm no lawyer, but I think that as long as they're not ripped from a DVD (thus breaking the encryption) and they're recorded from TV, that's considered time shifting and is legal in the US because they already fought that battle with VCRs...

With all these questions on legality of videos and music downloads, I think it is time DMT retained a lawyer ;-).

Funny how lawyers and people who post on online forums, particularly electronics-oriented sites, tend to be mutually exclusive. I remember a lawyer who posted regularly at the Brighthand Toshiba e700 Pocket PC forum.
