"DVD RIP N BURN: Powerful and FREE DVD Ripper and Burner with multi-language support...is an affordable way to backup your dvd movie library...is the best and affordable way to backup your dvd's to your hard drive or cd's. you can rip your library to avi compressed pick divx or another codec to encode to. you can rip to vcd for burning a vcd to play in your home dvd player. you can also rip to svcd for burning to play in your home dvd player."<br /><br />Shockingly, this app actually <a href="http://www.dvdripnburn.com/index_files/dvdmain.gif">seems to have a decent-looking UI</a> - most of these ripping tools do not. What interests me most about this app is simply ripping to AVI so I can then create WMV files for playback on my Pocket PC. It's free, and you never know how long these apps will last, so grab it while you can!<br /><br /><b>UPDATE:</b> SPYWARE Alert! This app apparently installs some spyware on your system, so you might want to avoid it after all. :(

Just a warning -- I downloaded and installed this program last night to try it out and (as is my habit with software packages that look too good to be true) ran SpyCop before and after the install. eBates Moe Money Manager and NavHelper were installed along with the DVDRipNBurn software with no warning other than scrolling through all of the Terms of Use (which I rarely do).

For those who do not wish to have these apps installed on their computers without their knowledge, steer clear of this product.

Cheers!

AUGHH!! That sucks. Thanks for the heads-up. Why don't these guys just charge $20 for their software and go legit? I hate spyware crap...

Will DVD RIP N BURN still work after removing eBates Moe Money Manager and NavHelper with a spyware removal tool?

Will DVD RIP N BURN still work after removing eBates Moe Money Manager and NavHelper with a spyware removal tool?

I had SpyCop remove them and tried running the program afterwards and I received an error message (seeming unrelated to the spyware) and could not get it to run. However, I did NOT try it before removing the spyware, so I don't know if I would have gotten the same error beforehand. So I am not entirely sure, but my suspicion is that the removal broke DVD RNB as the error message (I can't remember what it was exactly) did not make sense given that I am able to run other ripping software with no problems.

I have since uninstalled the program.

I just have to say that I agree with Jason that they should just charge the 20 bucks or whatever rather than bundling spyware  . This looks like a good product and one of the few I have found out there that supports ripping (more-or-less) directly to MPEG or AVI. I have been doing a lot of ripping and converting lately as the next couple of months will find me on the road a lot and I want to take something with me to watch while travelling, but the process is anything but streamlined and I end up taking at least 3 or 4 steps per rip to get it into the format I want. Now, I am willing to do this as I want to have as much control over the process as I can have, but this product would have made the DVD-to-MPEG/AVI conversion much easier :? . Oh, well, back to the old drawing board.

Cheers!
