"This massive hard drive is designed to store corporate data or record about 400 hours of video for consumers".<br /><br />"The new drive has a capacity of 400GB, spins at 7,200 revolutions per minute, and uses ATA (Advanced Technology Attachment) interface technology, according to a source close to Hitachi. The drive can come with either the parallel ATA interface long used in desktop computers or the newer Serial ATA interface. Dubbed the Deskstar 7K400, the drive is being tested by manufacturers and could be in digital video recorder products available to consumers later this year".<br /><br />In my opinion, the Fujitsu drive is aimed more at the server market with the SCSI or the Fibre channel interface and the 10K rpm. However, this Hitachi drive seems perfect for consumers. At 7200 rpm, it would be a fast consumer drive and with an ATA interface, it would plug into most motherboards. Think of the hours and hours of hi-res video that you can record, the ridiculous number of legal CDs you can legally rip and the gazillions of images you will be able to store on this drive. No need to ever delete anything. :)

We used to have several HD's and stored information on it, but now we have everything on one drive...do you think that that is safe? Can you imagine being near completing an huge project that was stored on that Hd (like a video) and then have it crash on you....oh the humanity!
