I'm just about to buy the DSC T1. W?BIC. Even though I've read several reviews that say it doesn't do as well as cameras hundreds of dollars less, even though it has significant red eye problems, even though it uses yet another memory format (Memory Stick Duo Pro), even though that memory is barely available.

Help me.

Can any one recommend a tiny camera that has as good macro features a is TINY.

What would you consider tiny and good?

Why can't you just give a straight answer?

Tiny = small. If she thinks the T1 is small, she must be looking for something around the same size. A good macro function would be something that allows for close-range macro shots, unlike some cameras that require a good twelve inches of space.

She's looking for informed opinions, not rhetorical ponderings. ;-)

Karen, I don't know all that much about that camera, but it seems that Sony is alone in offering a 5 megapixel sensor in a camera that size. There's the Canon SD10, which is also very small, but it's "only" a 4 MP sensor:

It uses SD cards, which I think you'd prefer over the Memory Sticks, and it also has a super macro mode that can focus from 1.18 inches away:

Here's a macro image sample - looks pretty good to me!

Hope this helps!

Fine, if you don't like my advice, I can stop giving it. The reason why I ask a bunch of questions is because different people have different perceptions of small. Some are willing to go a big bigger, others don't. Some people perfer slim; others are willing to to give up slimness for a shorter camera.

If I were to come up with a list of cameras which I think are small and are pretty nice, that'd probably result in information overload.

Thanks, all.

Yes, I consider the T1 as tiny. Some of the Casio ones are small, but the tiniest ones are only 3.2 MP. The 4.0 is bigger.

I also love the LCD on the T1. I guess the size of it makes up for the lack of a view finder.

I have another digital camera, but it is of a size that has a shoe and a lot bells and whistles. But a never carry it around on my person. I'm looking for a digital to carry around, hence the need for tiny.

I can use my hefty camera for tripods, important photos, etc.

The sad thing is I think I just have gadgetlust for the T1. 90% of my snaps will be of whiteboards that I run though Pixid software (the coolest digital sw I have...but not because it makes good pics http://www.websterboards.com/products/wbp.html)... I hate when my gadget brain does the thinking for my real brain.

I'm still trying to talk myself out of this.

It is a really cool program. It really does work the way that is shown on the website. When I bought it, it was like $69 or something. But even at $250 or whatever it is now, it's worth it.

As for my gadget lust, I normally don't react this way. I was never a gadget person until I got my Ipaq. Now I'm a hopeless freak.

My hubby is always telling me I have more money than brains. I've been working (and billing) something like 75 hours a week for a year now. I should be able to splurge now an then.
