Ah, another Gallery user! I use it too, although I'm not putting up my link here as I haven't separated my "public" stuff out yet. ;) It's absolutely awesome.
groan, update your Gallery software -- the version you have is vulnerable, I believe. 8O Plus the new version has several neat features...

I also use Gallery. It's a great piece of software and I highly recommend it to anyone who would like to post photos online.
Anyway, the link to my gallery is: http://www.davidclubb.com/gallery/. It's still very much a work in progress, so it's not nearly as nice I would like it. I would love to change the layout and integrate it more into my website, but I'm a full time student and thus have little time. But check it out anyway and tell me what you think.
And before I forget, all photos were taken with a Canon Powershot S50.

Daks! You went to RIT? Cool, during my Photo course we took a trip to Kodak land and toured your facilities. NICE is all i had to say. i thought it was cool that you HAD to come to the course owning your own medium-format camera. alot of Hasselblads floating around that campus.
Thanks Janak, I'll do that asap.
of course, i would like to ask everyone who knows how to infiltrate through gallery to not do so. this would make me sad. besides, there's nothing to get from my hosting account anyways, no porn or WaReZ.
Thanks for your consideration,

"Dacs" and not Daks! But no, I did NOT go to RIT. I would never consider going there--it's much too nerdy. At least that is what I hear from everyone I talk to. Instead, I go to the University of Rochester (http://www.rochester.edu/). It's also in Rochester, but more of a traditional four-year school than a "tech" school per se. One more thing; what made you think I went to RIT? My gallery clearly says, "University of Rochester (2003-2004).) :P

I wrote the gallery myself using PHP and MySQL. I have a Java upload feature to upload multiple photos at once. It also resizes pictures and creates thumbnails "automagically."
I'm thinking about making the code open source once I add some new features that I've been meaning to put in for a while.

Unlike Cruise & Kidman....with 'Eyes Wide Open'.
Ok, bad joke. :)
These days, I'm using a Minolta D7Hi. And that was used for most of the stuff at my site. But the 'White Sands' stuff was shot with an Olympus C3030Z, and I believe at least a couple of the 'Landstractions' series were shot with a 35mm film (or at least the underlying base image was).
I would love to move to a dslr, but the crop factors just kill the concept for me because my first choice in focal lengths is frequently wide angle. And if I'm going to spend the $$ for a 20mm lens, I want a 20mm field of view (or the digital equivalent thereof) goshdurnit....not a 30-32mm FOV.

I had a gallery up; it was just snapshots of the kids and stuff, but I recently switched web hosts from a Unix-based server to a Windows-based. I had been using Image Gallery, which is PHP-based and runs well on Apache, but not so much on IIS.
So a friend and I are working on our own gallery software. It's ASP.Net-based (C# specifically) on the front-end and SQL Server 2000 on the back-end. Right now it's all web-based for uploading and viewing photos, but I'm planning on writing a Windows forms-based front-end for doing the uploading, and especially for mass uploads.

no, just the fame.
that's not true.
the contests winnings are restricted by subscribers.
you subscribe by buying credits. it costs credits to enter the contest.
depending on how many people enter determines how big the pot is. the winners split the pot as first, second and third place.
not sure what you can do with the credits, yet, besides entering contests.

Do you have your own domain to display pics? If so, I've heard a number of good comments about the Gallery (http://gallery.menalto.com/index.php) package.
If you're looking for a commercial service, the 2 I'm most familiar with are Pbase (http://www.pbase.com) and/or Fotki (http://www.fotki.com). The former seems to be used by a *lot* of the DPR regulars, but I know little else about it.
I have used the basic free version of Fotki for some personal family stuff and several friends use it as well. It's pretty easy to use and if you start with the basic free account and like it, you can upgrade to a 'premium' account for $30/yr.
I chose the 'roll your own' way to go because I have plans for the site that will entail more than just a gallery and weren't available via any of the commercial sites. If you have your own domain already, it's reasonably simple to build a basic gallery these days. I'm far from being a 'webhead', but built everything at my site from scratch.
P.S. - Thanks for the kind words about my work...much appreciated.

I built my own one recently for my website airwave.e7.to (http://fverbeeck.int.webmatrixhosting.net/) I needed to learn new stuff in asp.net so i tried to create a basic photo galleries generator. You just need to point the script to a gallery folder (containing one or more albums with one or more files inside of course !) and it will create automatically what you can see. I'm pretty happy with the result. Recently added shots are highlighted and thumbnails are created on the fly and then cached. Well it's minimal but it works  ... and i'm a "less is more" addict so ! Sadly, i can't have file bigger than 100k on my (free) host so quality is really crappy (a little bit like my skills in fact ). The main advantage is that i can put whatever i want over there ! Otherwise i also use the sweet Fotolog system (you can see my fotolog gallery there (http://escapefromreality.e7.to). it's pretty easy to use and the community is really really huge !

Looking at some of these, and discussing these things on DMT got me inspired a few months ago and so I have completely redesigned my web site, Wild Earth Net (http://www.wildearthnet.org/). While I spent most of my time on the new design, I also reworked my photo galleries from scratch. I rescanned every photo from the original negative or slide and used Photoshop to clean them up. I also wanted to display my galleries differently this time, so I got a chance to look over several options for displaying photo galleries on your own site.
Previously, I had just made my thumbnail gallery pages from simple HTML tables but that required a lot of manual work whenever I added some new photos. One of the things I wanted to do with this was to have the system somewhat automated so that I could add or remove individual images easily. I looked at a ton of software, much of it expensive, some of it free, and I ended up settling on the built-in web gallery creator inside Adobe Photoshop.
I know, it surprised me too given all of the purpose-built programs out there, but this did two things that made it all come together. First, it was very customizable. All you had to do was copy a set of template files into a new folder and adapt them to your needs. Then the wizard runs, giving you lots of control over the sizes of final images, what information to include in the gallery, where to look for the source files, where to put the code and images, and so forth. I just have it stick them straight into the web heirarchy inside my web site folder so they're automatically integrated into the web site.
Second, it happily reads Photoshop files (of course, since it is Photoshop), outputs to JPEGs and pulls the titles and description text from the EXIF information in the image itself. That lets me prepare the file as a full-sized Photoshop file with my copyright notice as a separate layer and save it in that form. So once I've spent the time to clean up an image, I can maintain it in a full-size, non-lossy format, and it's always there ready to go.
When I add a new image, I just run the wizard again and it's smart enough to only resize those that have changed since the last run. The whole process takes less than 30 seconds for one of my galleries. It's turned out very nice and it definitely worth a look for those who already have Photoshop.
For those who don't have Photoshop, I also ran across an exceptionally powerful and flexible program for doing this same thing and it's completely free! It's called JAlbum and you can find it at http://jalbum.net/. This thing is amazing, and people have already designed and donated tons of free album designs that you can use or adapt to your needs. I almost went with this one, but finally decided I liked the workflow of the Photoshop option better. I could have made it fancier using JAlbum, though.
Finally, I'd like to add a word of support to the folks who make the program Neat Image (http://www.neatimage.com/). This is one of the best tools you can buy when you need to clean up images that have some noise... either electronic or photographic grain. Lots of my wildlife photos are taken with Kodak Royal Gold 400 pushed to 800 in very poor light. (Most of the critters favor dawn and dusk.) This program did a magnificent job of removing the grain from backgrounds, skies, etc. without costing me much in sharpness. I found that running Neat Image, then running an unsharp mask did wonders for many of the images on the site. Of course, you can't see it as well without comparison, but when looking at the two on the screen at the same time, I was amazed at the improvement between the old version and new version of each image.
Anyway, it was all a lot of fun inspired by all of you, so please feel free to stop by and take a look at the new version of the site.

I've just recently taken my photos down to redo my gallery, but, I highly recommend www.photo.net. It's free or you can subscribe for $25 dollars a year. Huge site filled with beginners, serious amateurs, and some professional photographers. You can submit your photos for critique and you can list your epuipment and what you used for each particular photo. Well worth a look.

You have done a *VERY* nice job with the site. And though I didn't take the time to look at all the pics, there was one that *really* stood out, IMO. The one of a baboon sitting in a tree looking out over a foggy mountain valley. *Outstanding* pic, that one!
I agree that's one of the nicest looking websites I've ever seen. I sent a link to a friend whose a web designer. Great job!

Personally, I never really liked Gallery. It looks a little hokey to me IMO so I opted for Coppermine's Photo Gallery.
My gallery's full of mainly photos I took at events with friends and stuff so there's not a whole lot of excitement, but there is the rare tidbit of artwrothyness :)
My best work is hosted on DeviantArt: http://dimensionzero.deviantart.com/

I'm currently using my Canon S20, but hope to get either a Canon 10D or *possibly* the 20D depending on the price... I really want to start getting seriously into photgraphy...
