Since the Zunes are basically specialized storage devices, why would you even need a USB dongle for the software? Just put the software on the device itself and have it automatically install/upgrade on first connect to the PC.

An interesting idea - but the new Zunes still lack the ability to connect directly to a PC and show up as a hard drive...so in order to do what you want, they'd have to enable the hard drive mode (which I really want to see). I'll do a front page post about this hard drive issue actually...
