Reports suggest that the web giant is developing a series of "GPhones", centered on its mobile services, such as search, e-mail and maps. In a statement, Google said it was working with carriers, phone makers and content providers to "bring its services to users everywhere". The firm would not say if its efforts included plans for a handset. The Google statement said: "What our users and partners are telling us is that they want Google search and Google applications on mobile, and we are working hard every day to deliver that."

So is Google creating a phone or not? It's been so on again/off again. Many of us have seen this pic of a so-called prototype of a Google phone. Does this look like something you'd want to own? If they do come up with a phone do you really think this will be it? Would you be interested in a Google phone? If yes, what would the G-phone have to include to seize your hard earned cash?

We're being attacked by happy faces!

I wouldn't mind a mobile device with a super huge screen. I think it is safe to say that the iPhone changed the way the world viewed the screen real estate on their mobile handsets. Smaller is no longer better and hopefully Microsoft has been paying attention

Are you suggesting something like a <gasp> pocketpc phone edition. Not sure the advent of the iPhone has started the trend back to bigger and touch screen, but it can't hurt. When PPCPE type things started, there was this somewhat awkward situation of talking into a pop-tart, but with the ubiquity of BT headsets, and the advances in voice recognition, it is increasingly less necessary to even take the brick out of your pocket to make a call. Then when you are on a call and need to look up some information or make a calendar entry, the electronic notepad capabilities of a touch screen, come in very handy.

The touch screen is a plus, but I think what Apple has done is put the desire for larger screen sizes into the minds of everyday consumers. While Pocket PC's have had very large screen sizes for years on end, not many of those devices have managed to see a reason to have them. Now since the iPhone has come along and has been selling fairly well, consumers are going to start expecting other manufacturers to start producing phones with giant beautiful screens.

I work with several people on a daily basis who were fine with the tiny screens on there Nokia and Samsung feature phones, but within the past couple weeks they went from being just fine with it to constantly talking about how their new phones will have big giant screens.

I think it would be great if Google does this. So far they have brought free wifi to communities in the area, they are reputed to be a great place to work, their system works great (for me.) I'm perfectly happy with them. If they want to investigate making phones or toasters, I'd be happy with it, I think they do a good job at what they do. Besides, I can't think of any other company that actually has the motto "do no evil."
