This menu driven Pocket Quicken gives you all the functionality found in the Windows Mobile version and can run independently or sync seamlessly with desktop Quicken running in Windows XP or Vista. Pocket Quicken’s mobilizes your financial data, enabling on-the-go access to account balances, credit limits, transaction histories, budgets, exchange rates and more. Full account details, transactions, categories, budgets and memorized payees are all available on your Smartphone with Pocket Quicken. Just as on the desktop, AutoFill is supported so once you start entering the name of a memorized transaction, the rest can be filled in for you. The account list provides a succinct overview of your financial situation."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/paxton-07062007-quicken.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/><br /><br />I haven't used Quicken for the PC in years. When I did use it I liked it. Well now you can have the convenience of Quicken on your smartphone with Pocket Quicken. I haven't actually tried this but you can download a fully functional 30 day trial from their website. The down side? It's $39.95 which I feel is a bit steep for a financial program on a 2-3 inch screen and since Quicken Basic is less than $30 for the PC. But, if Quicken is your financial program of choice and you'd like to use it on the go, then Pocket Quicken is your answer.

That's just silly - the mobile version should not cost more than the full PC version.

This is the only kind of software that was keeping me from being fully converged (pda & phone)! I think the price is excessive, but I'm likely going to buy it anyway. I've been using it for a few days and I like what I see.
This is the only financial software program for WM Standard, that syncs with a full finance app. on the desktop.....at least at this time.
When I bought my Q, and realized the lack of software solutions in this area, I emailed several of the companies that have a similar program for WM pro. Landware was the only one that said they were working on it. The others weren't even interested in development of a solution.

I wish my bank account had $498,444.45, then the price wouldn't be so bad ;)

Trust me, that screenshot is from their site - not my personal account (I wish).

The upgrade price is $19.99 which is more acceptable.

Upgrade from what? It's the first time they've offered the program for smartphone.
Can you use the upgrade option if you had the palm or PPC version?
Even if you can, the upgrade price might be reasonable, but the full price would be much more appealing if it were at or below $29.99.

I think the price is reasonable as the Smartphone market is so tiny. We recently advertised for beta testers ... and got 6 :P Sorry correction ... we had 6 already and got zero 8O

Well, that doesn't mean the market is tiny. Perhaps your request didn't get the traffic it should have, or maybe the app was too focused and the audience that saw your ad was the right crowd.
The Smartphone market is growing very quickly. It's not small anymore. The Q really changed that.

Yes, the $19.95 is a "sidegrade" if you have a licence from another mobile platform. Send and email to their support and they will send you the informatioin.

Neat.
But what I (and lots of other people) really need is a smartphone QuickBooks interface that actually works.

I downloaded the trail and will certainly give it a full 30-day workout before deciding to drop $40 for it. I will say this, it is one of the most robust third-party apps I've ever tried. It syncs easily with desktop Quicken, but it is so complete a software that you could do without Quicken if you so desire. The only thing I've noticed that you can't do with the handheld version that you can with the desktop version is communicate directly with financial institutions to reconcile entries.
Syncing with the desktop does cause one other problem - you can't edit transactions on the handheld once they've been synced. Here's the email I got from Landware (Which came less than a day after posting my question on their website, by the way):
"Once a transaction has been sent to the desktop, it is view only on the handheld. The same is true of a transaction that started on the PC, it is view only on the smartphone.
LandWare Help Desk"
This might be a deal-killer for me, since I track my cash expenditures by splitting and re-classifying withdrawls categorized as "Cash". We'll see how the rest of the features work over the next month.

That is great to know Mike. Sure hope you're right.
interestingly enough, (well to me anyway) the screenshots show New Zealand Currency and a Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) entry on it.
Landware is US based. Maybe one of the beta testers/developers is from NZ?

I purchased this app as a "sidegrade" customer for $20 USD.
Couldn't be happier. The interface is seemless. It is very handy to keep track of finances and purchases while away from the PC.
I like the way it syncs to the PC. If I remember correctly, before PQ showed up in Active Sync as one of the items to sync (like Contacts, Calender etc). Now, you sync PQ separately, only when you want to, not every time you connect the device to the PC.
I think I had the version for Palm (on an m505). The GUI and display has been much improved.
