This also shows in the number of the software products (mainly games) released for the system. Fortunately, Windows Mobile, both the traditional Pocket PC and the touch screen-less Smartphone version, has pretty good Commodore 64 emulators. In this roundup, I elaborate on them all on both platforms. I also present a small gift to the entire QVGA (320*240) MS Smartphone community: a C64 emulator, hacked by me, which does make use of the entire QVGA screen, as opposed to the pre-hacked state. And, of course, the roundup itself is also a nice present: as with all my other emulation-related articles, nowhere else will you find a better, more thorough article on all these subjects, I think ;) "</i> <br /><br />Menneisyys has posted, yet another extremely detailed guide in our forums. This time, it's all about the Commodore 64 emulator. I wasn't lucky enough to have a C64 as a kid. Instead, we had a Vic 20 - anyone else have one of those? Nah, didn't think so. Anyway, if you're into emulators and you have a passion for the C64, you might want to <a href="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14708">check out the post by Menneisyys.</a>

I totally had the Vic-20. I used it mostly for games (Ahh, that original Buck Rogers game...). I remember when we got the C-64 I didn't like it as much because it was too much like a real computer. I mean we even got the disk drive and printer for it!

I had a Sinclair Spectrum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinclair_Spectrum). There were always fights in the playground over which one was better, but the Spectrum always won. ;)

Here too - the usual Speccy vs c64 wars, which, later, escalated to IBM PC vs Amiga ones :)

(BTW, I will publish a very detailed guide to emulating the Spectrum really soon with some brand new, in English, never before published info on an excellent, new emulator of Russian origin.)

great article and very thorough. however, if you are a Smartphone user (and who isn't on this forum?) start near the end;
3. Windows Mobile Standard (MS Smartphone) emulators
and then start from the begining. ;-)
now, I'm going to download PocketHobitSP2003 and start playing! :-)

I too had Spectrum and loved it. I later moved to Amiga and then PC, but Spectrum was my first love...
That's why I have Pocket Clive installed on all my Pocket PCs.

Nonsense! C64 had better graphics and sound. Those speccy owners always were delusional. :wink:

That brought some memories back! :lol:

I had a Vic-20 as well and it got plenty of use up until I got the C-64. I remember spending hours playing Omega Race (Omega Wars?) on the Vic-20.

As a matter of fact, I think it's in a box in the basement still. I might just dig it out for old times sake :D

I had an Apple II, but always went over a friend's house to play Amok Man on the Vic-20! It ruled!

version 3.0 of PocketCommodore64 has just been released. It's REALLY cool and HIGHLY recommended for both PPC and Smartphone users. See my complete review at http://forums.thoughtsmedia.com/f83/review-pocket-commodore-64-vic-20-3-0-released-multiplayer-vastly-improved-core-89494.html#post686840
