http://mobile.divx.com

During my lunch break today I was sitting around browsing the Internet and watching some streaming Divx videos on one of my favorite sites, Stage6. If you have never been to Stage6 before the best way to describe it would be YouTube for Divx users. I do not know how it happened, or why it happened, but somehow I got thrown to a sub-domain of Divx.com for mobile devices. Being the nosey person I was, I started browsing around and low and behold, I found out that Divx had quietly released a version of their Divx Player, dubbed Divx Mobile Player, onto the internet! The best part of this delicious find is that this program is 100% free!

If you are a Divx/Xvid user and would like to enjoy your media on the go without paying the outrageous price of most media players out there, then go check out Divx Mobile Player. You do have to sign up for a Stage6 account to download the application but I feel it is a small price to pay for such a juicy little gem! The program is still in release candidate phase, but so far I have been able to enjoy a couple of old Family Guy episodes I had laying around on my memory card as if I was watching them on my computer! :)

I installed the .cab file on my Moto Q and installed the player. It wouldn't even open the program.

What's the advantage of this program over TCPMP? Does it open when you try to watch one of the videos on stage6.com or do you have to choose to download the video files to your phone and then watch them? If you have to download them, TCPMP works great for me and It handles a lot more file formats.

Is there something I'm missing?

Yeah, I'm missing whether stage6 is just for desktop browsing or also for smartphones.

sorry i couldn't answer this sooner guys, huge project at worked and they pretty much kept me chained to my cubicle :(

Stage6 is just a showcase for Divx videos. If you wish to watch these videos on your devices, you would have to download them to your phone/storage cards.

Stage6 was involved because I was browsing videos on Stage6 when I got kicked over to the Divx Mobile site. Still not sure how it happened. All in all, the software isn't that bad but after using it to watch a few videos, you quickly realize why it is still in RC state.
