<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://get.opera.com/pub/opera/winmobile/865b/' target='_blank'>http://get.opera.com/pub/opera/winmobile/865b/</a><br /><br /></div>It looks like Opera has just released a new beta version of Opera Mobile for Windows Mobile. It appears to be version 8.65 Beta and the files are dated March 28th 2007. I don't know what is new in this release because Opera hasn't updated their <a href="http://www.opera.com/docs/changelogs/mobile/winmobile/">Change Log</a> to reflect this new build. Seeing as it's a point release, I can't imagine it being anything too earth shattering. But if you've been having problems with Opera Mobile, you might want to give this version a try. You can download a copy for your Pocket PC or Smartphone directly from <a href="http://get.opera.com/pub/opera/winmobile/865b/">Opera's site.</a>

Actually, it is pretty earth shattering. I'm using it now on my Moto Q. This is the first version specifically for WM5 Smartphone. It's pretty impressive for a first beta.

Correct...this is the first official version for the Smartphone.

what? There's always been a Smartphone version of Opera mobile. We talked about it way back in June of 2005 when it was first released. http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8669

And the first technical preview back in Oct of 2004 http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6464

Ok, ok, I'm feeling old now. :?

Well, what I meant to say was in reference to WM5. If I understand correctly, the current version doesn't support WM5, although it does work.

I'm actually pretty disappointed in this release. It's the first version that officially supports WM5 Smartphone (thankfully), but it's missing the 3 things that I loved the most about the Java version of Opera Mini:
1) Page-down/ page-up using right and left on the 5-way nav (spacebar on my Q pages down, but I can't find a page-up).
2) Smooth-scrolling (when paging up and down)
3) Opera mini was free :)

Ah, I see. It took them a while to release a WinMo5 version. :?

Here's some details from their forums:

New Main Features in 8.65 Beta include:

Grab and Scroll (PocketPC only)
Web search in address bar
Save image
Copy text
Send link as e-mail, SMS, and MMS
Import IE bookmarks
Support for Macromedia Flash Player 7 for Pocket PCs
FlashLite 2.1

Also new is that we finally provide a Smartphone version for WM5 (and 6).

The changelog between 8.60 and 8.65 will be available from: http://www.opera.com/docs/changelogs/

@sbono13,

Page up/page down are 6/9. 3 brings you to the top of the page. * switches full screen on and off. # switches desktop view on an off. I think 5 is supposed to switch between load and don't load images. [code]

I ran a speed test between this and Explorer on the Blackjack using Cingular 3G.

Using Opera I get about 350Kps; 900kps on Explorer....

It feels responsive but the numbers sure don't back that up.

I was using the DSL reports site.
