View Full Version : putting links on your homescreen easily?
I was wondering if it were pretty easy to put a hyperlink on the homescreen by simply editing the XML file...
Like it'd like a section title GMAIL that simply opens up IE and goes to www.gmail.com. Nothing fancy. Just a section of text when selected, opens up the link.

In the past I had used a free home screen plugin called the rjShortcut.

But the site hosting the plugin does not seem to be active. Try doing a Google search for it.
This simple tool allowed you to put a line the one below to enable launching IE with a Web page.
<shortcut target="\Windows\iexplore.exe" args="http://wap.yahoo.com/" iconfile="rjicons.dll" iconindex="-198"/>

I believe Facade also can do it. It is not free but can do lot more.

Look for the information on Launcher tab in the Facade tutorials.

I second the recommendation rjShortcut. It is free and it is small. Facade is a nice piece of software but it includes a lot of other features as well... not a bad thing if you want to use them, but wasteful if you don't.
