NewsBreak v2 adds support for feeds that require authentication like gmail. Pretty cool! Anyone know if NB will finally allow the downloading of images associated with feeds when you're not connected? Podcast listening sounds really cool... quick question though - anyone know if you can do that with google reader mobile (which has been my RSS reader of choice since i ditched NBv1 back when)?

Previously whenever you visited a feed with an image we went out to look for that image. This meant NewsBreak tried to connect at that time. We have changed it so that now it only goes to get the image if you already have a connection available.

This is not what you are looking for though. What I believe you are asking about is precaching images. We didn't do this originally (in 1.0) due to memory concerns. For instance, if you have 200 feeds (MANY users have that many) and half have images and of those half each feed has 10 headlines, you might be downloading and storing up to 1000 images! This translates to a LOT of memory.

Now, many users have storage cards or devices with more memory than in the past. Memory is still an issue but less so. We are looking at ways to allow users to choose to download images in advance but for this version, when it came time to say "What can we get in using the time and resources we have" the cries for podcast support won out.

So no, it does not do this now, but yes, we are looking at options for the future.

NewsBreak is great. I use it on my Smartphone and PPC. I tried the new Podcast feature last night. It works great.

This is a quality product. Well worth the cost!

I have the 2.0 release but I have changed laptops and did a hard reset on my T-Mobile Dash. When I try to register it says the Device Name and Password don't go together. Where is the Device Name located so that I can change it.

Actually it doesn't use your "device name". When you receive registration codes from Ilium Software we provide you with a Name and Key. These go together for registering the software but have no relation to the device name itself (meaning it's easy to switch to a new device.)

If you don't have these, or if they aren't working, just drop the folks in our support department a line. Make sure to tell them the email address you used when you purchased and they can get you your unlock codes.

I just bought this and am quite pleased with the software. It runs really well on my Samsung BlackJack.

I have a few requests though:

* Have it sync with the Common Feed system used by IE7
* Add additional scheduling options, such as every 2, 5 days
* Have it download inline images for a feed on demand

Otherwise, it's great software and much better than the one that came with my phone.

I've been using NewsBreak since it was first released. I puchased the upgrade yesterday--well worth it.

That's a great suggestion. As you guys can imagine, I have hundreds and hundreds of feeds to help make sure that we bring you the latest news ass quickly as possible. I currently only use RSS on my phone for personal stuff. I don't want to read a feed and then have to re-read it on my desktop. So anything sort of sync between them would be great!
