Cool. I almost never turn off my phone - except when I'm flying. But I always change profiles. The phone goes to silent at night and loud when I leave home in the morning. I've been using Alerts! for this as it allows a lot more than just changing profiles.

Have you tries the SwitchProfile app? Is it any good?
