I recently got a Windows Vista laptop and was able to successfully sync my Blackjack with it. Then it stopped syncing together.

I've tried rebooting my laptop and resetting my Blackjack and they still wouldn't sync. So I deleted the existing partnership and re-installed Windows Mobile Device Center. I followed the same steps I have done previously. However, now when the WMDC windows comes up and I click on "Set up your device", I get:

"Windows Mobile Device Center Sync Host has stopped working"

Any ideas?

TIA.

Try uninstalling all smartphone apps from Vista and smartphone. Smartphone Notes for one has been known to cause problems with WMDC.
You do have the lastest version of WMDC don't you?

I have been struggling with this for some time. It just won't work with my BlackJack either. My 8525 syncs fine. I'm not using Smartphonenotes either.

In order for me to get it to work, I acually had to uninstall Smartphone apps from Vista, then delete all references to the software in the registry then reset the BJ. I upgraded to Vista over top of XP so I know that's what the problem was with WMDC. I still have smartphone notes listed in the things to sync and can't find out were WMDC is picking it up at.

I finally got my Blackjack to sync. It turns out it was the Live OneCare firewall.

- Right click the OneCare icon (green '1' in the system tray)
- Click 'Open Windows Live OneCare'
- Click 'Change OneCare Settings'
- Click the 'Firewall' tab
- Click 'Advanced Settings'
- Click the 'Ports and Protocols' tab
- Click to allow "Activesync"

Worked fine then for me.

FYI, my problem was solved when I uninstalled SmartphoneNotes on my Vista machine but kept it on my Blackjack. Thanks for all your ideas and suggestions.

I contacted Syncdata (makers of SmartphoneNotes) about compatibility with Vista and they said they were working on it. Yesterday, I got an email with a link to the modified version (2.1.0.1) and so far I can sync notes between my Blackjack and Vista. Let's see!
