Welcome to reality. In actual fact, it has never been a cruel intention from Microsoft to design two different mobile platforms to confuse us, the consumers. It is more to say Pocket PC platform was once designed to en act like a PDA while Smart phone platforms were designed to act more like a mobile phone than a PDA. Anyway, towards the near future, Microsoft resolution in mobile devices is to integrated both platform and mould them into one strong Operating system for mobile devices. Meanwhile, we just have to bear with the confusion over the Pocket PC and Smart phone platform."</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Kris-2007feb-voxpreview.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />Not sure how we missed this preview. Folks, get your drool buckets ready. One lucky person, <i>Lucretius,</i> has managed to get his hands on the HTC S710 codenamed the Vox. Now you can see real photos of the device, check out the screen shots of Windows Mobile 6 running on the device and also read the initial impressions. The more I look at the keyboard, the more I like this device. Wish this unit had 3G. :(

I love the form-factor. It works great on my TyTN and I'm sure the Vox will work just as well. :)

But I agree, the lack of 3G kills this device for me. C'mon HTC, it's 2007 and UMTS is standard on mid-range non-smartphones in Europe these days. Why waste the potential of Windows Mobile with low data speeds?

According to HTC roadmap, there is a followup to VOX allready in the works that will have 3G.

That is cool. But does this mean I will have to shell out $$$ to get the Vox only to find out a follow on coming out in the next 4 months.

The thing that would be most painful is - if Cingular launches 3G in my area and I have to buy this non-3G unit.

But then the more I think about this, I am guessing this phone will be coming out on T-Mobile (since this has WiFi) and the non-WiFi but 3G unit will come out on Cingular, I mean AT&amp;T.

I've been enjoying 3G for a couple months now on my BlackJack, and I just switched to a Dash the other day. Already, I'm missing the 3G speeds. This is something I don't think I can do without for too much longer. HTC, it's time to get 3G out the door. ;)

It's on the 8525, not that it does us any good here.

I think Tmobile needs to come out with a DashJack - or maybe a BlackDash? Either way I just wish they would fire up their 3G network and give me a device that also has decent battery life.

I guess that is the problem with 3G units, battery life and hi speed data is not really compatible yet I guess...

Anyone else having trouble finding the review on his blog, I seem to get to blog home and I really can't find any info about the review...

Weird :?

Anyone knows what happened? Did HTC lawyers force the site to remove the page?

Very cool looking device...
OK - Have the Treo 700 now and lovin it - Verizon has been very good for me in reliabilty and data...
Any idea/speculation on what this phone will support or discussion about carriers?
Are we looking at this as a "pocketpc pro" phone or a "smartphone" - aka no touch screen?

It runs Smartphone (aka "Windows Mobile Standard"), so no touch screen.
