That sucks! I'm always worried about the buyer pulling crap like this. Glad it worked out with the second chance bidder.

You never have to pay the listing fee if the buyer backs out. You have to file a claim, but eBay refunds the fee. I'm glad you got it worked out, though - much easier that way.

Yeah I have done that a couple times but it is like a 2 week process. This is the first time second chance actually worked for me. I also got the original winner to pay me the listing fee. As it turns out I didn't need that.

Wow - that's unexpected. Given that, I would probably give the guy neutral feedback at worst, and possibly even positive if he was very cordial throughout the deal. Of course, it's your feedback to give ;)

That is what I should have done. However I was steaming when the stunt was pulled so they got a negative. Oh well maybe it will impress them not to do that anymore?

I don't think negative feedback is unwarranted where the buyer pulls out of the deal. eBay really isn't all that complicated - if you can't figure out that you "won a bet", then you need to start paying closer attention. The more likely scenario is that he found a phone for cheaper and simply wanted out of your auction. Nothing wrong with negative feedback for that.

Yeah that is kind of what I was thinking too. I'm not a huge seller there but I sell enough and I've had this happen to me at least 5 times out of 40 or so sales. I went through that dispute process twice and it does work, just takes a long time.

Well, if you still made the sale, and he paid the listing fee, do you really need to give him negative feedback? I guess it depends what he did that caused the other negative feedback that he has.

No, but I already had and there is no changing it.
