<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=2971' target='_blank'>http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=2971</a><br /><br /></div><i>"Today Cingular announced that it has 3G data coverage in more than 160 markets in the US. We personally ran into this bit of good news the other day while testing a Cingular 8525 in our location outside of Philadelphia. We had expected to be making a trip to New York City to test out the 8525's 3G data capabilities, but were pleasantly surprised when the 'U' (as in UMTS) marker showed up on the phone's status line."</i><br /><br />I remember when Cingular only had 3G coverage in 17 markets! It is amazing how quickly companies such as Cingular can implement technology such as this all across the country in such record times. Now if only T-Mobile would stop screwing around and hop on the 3G bandwagon. ;)

i could understand LA not being in the initial 17 launch markets... but not even being in the top 160 markets... thats just sad

Well looking at the map there are some Blue (3G coverage) blobs around the city. Nothing near me though.

They've also missed the 14th largest market in the US - Minneapolis/St. Paul. Seems they didn't quite meet their goal of hitting all the largest markets by year end. I think Denver might also have been missed.
Not even as sniff of Cingular 3G anywhere around here yet. I shouldn't be surprised, Cingular wasn't even in this market until the ATTWS merger. For some reason it appears that this isn't an important market to them.

I'm not holding my breath for Tmo. They don't even have any devices that are 3g unless they are readying the Cavelier for that. At least I have wifi for my dash.

No Denver? Cingular sucks
Little Rock, Arkansas...That market must be HUGE for them. Maybe I'll move there just for the 3G. NOT

A little 3G icon popped up on my phone a week ago friday here in Orange County, CA. Gotta admit it's a great improvement over edge :P

I thought Rochester, NY was one of the biggest cities; should have definitely made it to the 160 list. :-(

I think I am going to mail this to Cingular, so that they can update their city list.
