I present the first live picture of the HTC Vox (S710) smartphone with complete spec sheet. Quad-Band EDGE, Spring-assisted keyboard like the P4350, WiFi and more. Don't ask me how, don't ask me why. Just enjoy! Thanks HTC! P.S. Just noticed the screen on the device says UMTS operator, who knows if that will make it to production, lets hope."</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/kris-dec2006-vox.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />The details on the HTC Vox is slowly trickling in. My first impression was that this Smartphone will be chunky but thanks to information made available by The Boy Genius Report, it seems like this Smartphone will have almost the same dimensions as the Cingular 2125. 8O According to the details the Vox will be 100 mm (L) x 50 mm (W) x 18 mm (T) and for the sake of comparison I have gathered the dimensions of some of the popular Smartphones currently available in the market: Cingular 2125 is 116 x 46 x 18, Cingular 3125 is 98.5 x 51.4 x 16.3 and Blackjack is 113 x 59 x 11.8. Let's hope that the UMTS/HSDPA capability is confirmed soon. It will make this unit the must have Windows Mobile Smartphone. Also hoping that the mystery behind the D-Pad is solved soon. This Smartphone is supposed to have a 5-way jog bar, but the location and method of operation is not known. :?

Me too, if this unit ships with HSDPA. I am guessing that by the time this unit is released, Cingular will have HSDPA in my area. I am hoping...praying...

But with those dimensions how will that slide out keyboard be useful?

But with those dimensions how will that slide out keyboard be useful?

Since the keys are placed length wise (100 mm) instead of width wise approach as in the case of BlackJack/Dash/Q (~50 mm), the spacing between the keys would be comfortable. And also the holding the phone with both the hands and typing with the thumbs will be comfortable also.

The thing that bothers me is that location of the space bar key. :?

I guess I'm skeptical. The keyboard on my TyTN is walking the line in size. Any smaller and I don't know if it would work for me. If his is about the size of the 2125 then its got to be much smaller.

Nice looking product, but I am waiting on the Cavalier. If I am going to be required to use two hands to type on the keyboard, I am going to go with a Pocket PC.

Yup, I don't like that either. I'm not really hyped over this device. I like my BlackJack and my older i320 more. I like having the keyboard always out and ready. And I can't imagine that this will save much in the way of thickness. I'm not ready to go back to a SP5m size device.

I would totally trade in my Dash for this.

I like how it totally blurs the Pocket PC Phone/Smartphone lines.

"Display Simulated" They didn't even bother to round the corners of the screenshot to make it look like it was actually on the screen...

I personally think this it is pretty hot. I like the full keyboard, but really appreciate the 'phone first' attitude.

It would be better if it were to natively run Word and Excel like its PPC brethren though. I don’t think the size is outrageous at all, and I currently use an SP5.

Same here. I also like that it is truely a phone first. I love my Dash and the newer QWERTY Smartphones. I still like to use my Smartphone for checking emails and checking stuff, don't like to do any heavy text entry. That is why I like this phone first design. If I need to type in a message, I can pull the keyboard out.

The second reason is that I find the Dash / BlackJack / Q too BlackBerryish. I hate to look like one of those BB carrying guys. Plus I think these devices make you look geeky. I prefer the laid back phone approach with the stealth keyboard. ;-)

Kris, just accept what you are. I have made peace with it, you can too. :robot:

If this device ships with HSDPA, where do I place my order? Let's see...I will use my TyTN for Heavy Duty service, my VOX for the balance of my business day and my STr TRk for weekend duty. KEWL!
