No, not yet, but it's close. As with other "Smartphone" reviews I have written, I preface the entire review with the fact that I am more of a "Pocket PC Phone" guy than a "Smartphone" guy. Not this time, I am officially designating myself as a "Smartphone" guy. I guess I have adjusted to not having a touch screen. While reviewing the Blackjack, something happened that I normally do not let happen during a review. I fell in love. I ordered my own Blackjack to replace the review unit I have been using these past few weeks."</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Temporale-20061211-MobilitySiteBlackJackReview.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />Chris from Mobility Site has posted his review of the new must have Windows Mobile Smartphone - Samsung's BlackJack. Chris has a lot to say, and a lot of cool pictures to show, including a comparison between my favourite - Samsung i320 and the BlackJack. I have recently added a BlackJack to my line up of phones, and it's a great phone, but I like the keypad and side buttons from the i320 better. Thanks to the Quad-band and 3G features, the BlackJack is a much better device!

Cool :!: Here's an affiliate link to buy the BlackJack from Amazon.

Any chance an existing CIngular customer can get this Amazon deal?

Why would you think the data plan is expensive? It's only $19.99 per month.

That's cheap compared to what we have to pay up here. :(

There seems to be some mis-communication with some Cingular service reps. Where they are telling people that another more expensive plan is required.

Probably around the fact that they have a smartphone plan (19.99) and a PDA plan (39.99?). Both unlimited plans.

my be its just me, but the slower processor on this phone does not make it for me, dont think that i can downgrade from a 416MHz to 220MHz from my i320

This phone is fast. Don't worry about the processor speed. It's the same idea as your home machine - the speed of the CPU doesn't dictate how fast the machine runs. There's lots of other things to take into consideration too.

As a side note, I would like to see a official source for CPU speed. I can't find anything on Samsung or Cingular's site. This is the exact same problem I had with the i320. If you look up the CPU type for the i320 and read the specs on it. You'll see that it's rated at 180-250mhz. I don't know where the 400+ idea came from, but it's not what the CPU or any official source says.

ya i know but i had the QTEK 8500 with a 195MHz processor &amp; it was a lil sluggish, if i ran more than 2 things at a time it use to freeze on me somethings.. r u using the i607? &amp; i guess u did use the i320.. how do they compare performance wise? as i would love to get one.

My i320 says: ARM920T PXA27x , &amp; i have read everywhere that its 416MHz, honestly i haven't seen any official documents that its 416MHz, but its freaking fast that i would believe it is 8) .. thoughts?

Right. The i320, along with the moto Q run the Arm920T processor. Here's (http://www.arm.com/products/CPUs/ARM920T.html) the specs from ARM's website. You'll notice that it lists the speed as a max of 250MHz.

Wikipedia lists the Arm920T as 200 MIPS at 180MHz on this page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARM_architecture).

Intel has a web page (http://www.intel.com/design/pca/prodbref/253820.htm) for the PXA27x that says "scalable core up to 624 MHz".

No where does Samsung list the actual speed of the CPU. I've searched and read just about everything I could find on the Samsung site and I never once saw the processor speed referenced.

So the question is, which spec wins? If the ARM spec can only scale up to 250, does that mean the Intel spec is limited to 250?

For the record, the BlackJack lists a processor of "ARM926EJ OMAP1710", but once again, there is no reference to the exact speed.

I'm pretty sure I know where the 416MHz reference came from and it's far from an official source. In fact, I tend to think it was pulled out of the air.

it would be a nice device if the D-Pad did not suffer an ennoying design flaw.

Does this offer allow porting my # from TMobile? I started thru the purchasing process, but didn't see an option for this. I know they do the credit check and setting up the phone account after placing the order with Amazon, maybe that's where you tell them you want to port your number?

Also, during checkout you have to choose your data plan. The only ones you have to choose between are the $39.99 and $49.99 PDA plans. I assume you can later call Cingular and ask them to switch you to the $19.99 Smartphone Connect plan. Anyone successfully done this?
