Is quadband GSM really so much more expensive than tri-band GSM? It seems that so many good, interesting phones (Samsung i320, etc.) are released as tri-band GSM, kissing off all CIngular users. WHy, why, why? Or is it just a diabolic way of Cingular keeping these unlocked jewels out of their market?

It's penny-pinching mostly. Many of those models are never intended for mass release in the US.

This topic has come up often in our forums. No one has a clear answer.
Samsung's tri-band units makes everyone mad. It makes no sense to make a smartphone with only tri-band radio. Seems like Samsung has a lot of tri-band modules/chipsets sitting in their inventory.

Same for WiFi. It would cost next to nothing to add WiFi support to a device, but for some reason most devices are still lacking this feature. I imagine that the same thing holds true to USB2 as well. :?
