Consider that base covered as well to our old pal Roc A Fella. The retail units started appearing at corporate stores last week (no chances of you getting one early so don't bother) and the pricing is pretty attractive for such a feature rich phone: Full Retail $349.99, One Year $299.99, Two Year $249.99</i>"<br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/augusto-20061009-tmodash.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/><br /><br />The full retail price for this handset is looking <i>incredibly</i> tempting, especially when you compare the price to the recently released Cingular 3125 which has a retail price of $449.99USD. Also there appears to be an additional $50USD mail in rebate if you sign a one or two year contract!

Okay - so I am a Cingular customer living in an area with no T-Mobile coverage (Nebraska). Can I call up the 800 and buy the Dash at full retail? Or do I have to have some affiliation with T-Mob to do this?

Obviously, I'd need it unlocked etc - but I'm sure someone will help me with that - for a price....

I see no reason why you couldn't buy the Dash without being a T-Mobile customer.

i've never bought a phone on its release date so i was wondering the process? do they hit stores that day or do you call t-mobile sales or what? (amazon.com or elsewhere online on the 16th?)

I went to a t-mo store yesterday hoping to pick one up early, they said they didn't have them yet and wouldn't sell them until the 16th (the guy took my name and said he'd reserve one though). He was very knowledgable and knew the pricing right off-hand. The pricing mentioned in this article sounds correct, $249.99 minus a $50 mail-in rebate with a 2-year contract.

In addition, it's $30 to tack on an unlimited data plan (which does NOT include unlimited SMS messages :? ). Anyone know if there's an application that will send and receive SMS via email without subtracting from your account? Or can I just send/receive SMS messages via the phone's e-mail account?

Hopefully I'll have one on Monday. :)

It's hard to say. Sometimes it's web release first and the stores follow shortly after. Other times is a full on release on that day. The best suggestion I have is to do like T-Will said and drop by a store. Give the rep your name and number and tell him you want to get one of these the day it is in stock.

Wifi and keyboard! I really hate wanting everything new that comes out.

What's the unlock process like on these things?
Is it pretty easy to get unlock codes from T-Mobile if you pay full price?

I might drop my berry and my 30 day old, c3125 for this thing...hmm. Does WebIS's FlexMail work on Smartphones?

Again, I really hate wanting everything new that comes out.

No, T-Mobile will only give you an unlock code if you have an account in good standing for at least 3 months. You'd have to get a third-party unlock code, which can run anywhere from $5 to $40. And yes, there's a FlexMail version for the Smartphone.

Well, if you're just going to drop it, I'll take that 3125 off your hands cheap.
