Very easy. It is a settings option. There is no guidance to image size though. I had to experiment.

What size did it end up being?

I came up with 130x130. Maybe could be tweaked a bit but that worked out nicely.

The actual external screen size is 128 x 128, for the record.

If your particular background doesn't mesh well with the date & time font color, make the bottom 20 pixels black. Makingthe image 128x108 won't work since the phone will center it.
