View Full Version : 3125 - New Program to Stop the Green LED

I've seen a lot of posts and reviews for the Cingular 3125, and there are a lot of comments on the annoying blinking green LED on the front of the phone. So, I wrote a program that disables the LED. The program has an option to allow the LED to blink if there are any voice mails, missed calls, unread messages (mms, sms, email), or a low battery.
I'm looking for people to let me know it installs and works on the 3125 (and probably other variations of the HTC Star Trek), since my phone has development certificates installed. Please post your responses and comments. The program is and always will be free.

When the program starts, the LED is disabled. The check box for "Blink for Messaging and Low Batt" allows the LED to blink for messaging and low battery. The "Task Mgr can't end this program" check box stops the Task Manager program from ending the program (You'll get a warning in the Task Manager that the program isn't responding, so just click the right softkey to "Cancel" trying to stop the program). The left softkey ("Exit") will exit the program. The right softkey toggles the LED between disabled/enabled (disabled stops the normal blinking, enabled is the normal blinking of the LED).
Here's the link to download the program:

It works. The program needs to be running in the background to keep the LED off correct?

Yep. For now just let it run. That's why there's an option to stop the task manger from closing the program. I may change the program to not show up in the task manager, and I'll post an update to this topic.

Does this work on other phones? My SP5m could really use something like this. On the plus side, there's no flashing lights on my i320. 8)

I do kind of like flashing lights though. Especially the blue one for BT.

:shocked!: NNOOOooooooo!!! :twak:
I would rather save the battery power and use it for something more productive. I know if my phone is on or not and I don't need a flashing light to tell me that. ;) Didn't we post an articel from the WinMo Team Blog that talked about how much power a blinking light used up? Yup, thought so, here it is (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12002) 8)

The program will likely work on other smartphones. Here are the requirements: Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone (not a pocketpc phone), .Net Compact Framework 1.0 (preinstalled on the 3125), an LED that blinks for radio/phone status.
The program does not inhibit the bluetooth LED.

HI ! Nice Job ! :D
Is there any way to include an option "Blink for reminders".
Thanks

Thatīs me again :)
On my Dopod S300 (pretty much the same HTC 8500 or cingular) the program stops all the uses of the green led even though I set the option for leaving it working for messages. May you ckeck it ?
Thanks

It definitely disables the light, but when I get the notification of a message and retrieve it, it doesn't go back to disabled - it just keeps blinking. I have an 8500 with the Cingular ROM installed. Has anyone else had this issue?
I think it's a great concept - the LED toggle I'm using now, which I got off Modaco, works fine but doesn't have notification functionality. If you can get that to work properly, I'd definitely prefer this program.
Also, if you can get the thing to survive a soft reset, it would be really fantastic. Don't know if that's doable or not.
I installed the program on my Cingular 3125, it shows up in my start menu. I can access the program and the checkboxes are both checked but the led's continue to blink. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Don't exit the program (left soft key). Instead, just press the home key to return to the home screen.

This program sounds great although the download link seems to be broken right now. Is it possible to disable the BT LED? Or even better, use the BT led as the indicator for messages since the radio led turns amber when the phone is charging?
*edit* Link is working now. Installed the app onto the phone. Seems to work well for me. A blinking message indicator is oh-so much more useful than a radio indicator. Thank you!
I can see why they'd put a radio indicator, but they should only flash it when there is NO signal!

...just fine on my Cingular 3125, however I use BT 24/7 and wish I could kill the blue light too...the program isn't much use if it can't kill all the lights. I have to turn the phone upside down in the car every night on the way home from work, drives me crazy.

Hi All,
Has anyone figured out how to disable the Bluetooth LED from blinking all the time?
Thanks,

The program works great for stopping the Green LED.
I've seen a number of posts regarding something to stop the Bluetooth LED light. Has anyone seen a fix for that yet?

I haven't seen anything about disableing the BT light. I can live with the green LED blinking but the blue one is just too bright.
