Now, details on the Cingular 3125, known otherwise as the HTC Star Trek -- the thinnest clamshell Smartphone on the market so far -- is primarily the purview of our sister site, Smartphone Thoughts , so I'm not going to go into it in much detail. Nevertheless, the fact that HTC America is visible and active is noteworthy."</i><br /><br />Janak from our sister site <a href="http://www.PocketPCThoughts.com">Pocket PC Thoughts</a> has just posted some pictures and details about Cingular's "Smart Meets Sexy" event event featuring the 3125 Smartphone, held last Wednesday in New York. I find it rather interesting that the HTC name is displayed everywhere. It's not like they're the one's selling you the phone. Anyway, check out Janak's thoughts on the 3125 and some of the pictures he snapped at the event and let us know what you think.

Yes it is... in countries where the Telecom companies don't want to rebrand and retail phones, HTC uses it's own name.

Like here in Norway, HTC's distributors advertice the phones by using the HTC logo and slogans.

Right, HTC bought Qtek for this very purpose. However, they don't sell in the US. So why would Cingular have a press party and allow HTC to plaster their name all over the place. The consumer and even the main stream media won't have a clue who or what this HTC is. My only guess is that HTC is trying to get their name out in the US.
