A glance at the Motorola update site shows that it's back to tease mode, telling us this software update is "coming soon." Wonder what happened? Anyway, it looks like Mot plans a few added capabilities, with highlights being the ability to use the Q as a modem with added dial-up networking functionality, some OS enhancements for Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0, and the ability to access websites that support frames. Get the full wonky details of the update after the jump."</i><br /><br />List this one under "The Q Files". It also appears that push email is coming to the Q as well. The link in the article goes to what looks like a generic software upgrade page. I found <a href="http://direct.motorola.com/ENS/q-software-upgrade.asp?Country=USA&language=ENS&productid=30419">this one</a> however it doesn't appear to have anymore information either. This looks like a good upgrade. Give it a read to get all the details. Stay tuned. :)

i updated my Q with the update that appeared last week and the one that appeared today. push email works, i can naviagate websites that use frames (e.g., Outlook web access), there's a new wireless manager that controls bluetooth and the phone independently, the phone appears to boot faster than before and dangit, there's no friggin improvment in battery life (from my perspective).
i wonder if the official update will be any different....

I ran the update as well and can say it is a very nice update. The start menu now has four icons across, the scroll wheel works much better (cursor? doesn't jump around as much), boot time is faster, frame support works nicely in IE ... and overall the device is faster - noticeably snappier!

It also fixed a few things for me ... my Q would periodically (at least once a day) hang when I tried to answer an incoming call. I have had the update for several days now and have had no such problems yet.

Nice job moto!

Wait a second. That moto site says "Check back regularly for the latest software updates for your Motorola Q" Is there another link you guys are using to get the update? Or has Moto gone back to the MPx220 days where they post and pull the update in the same day.

These are the links for the two files you need ... Moto still hasn't "officially" released the update.

http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/motosupport/source/include/Motorola_Software_Update_Stand_Alone.exe

http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/motosupport/source/include/MSU_VZW_STAND_ALONE_FIRMWARE_MOL_1.msi

That second link is pass-word protected, it would seem.

I've been waiting to be able to access websites with frames on them. I was able to download the two links but how do you update it on to your phone? The first link downloaded Motorola update which on step two tells my I have no internet connection, which I do. The second download saved on my desktop computer and when I try to move it to my Motorola Q it says the file is too big. How did you guys get the second update onto the phone itself?

Many thanks! :D
