<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.twoinchview.com/?p=62' target='_blank'>http://www.twoinchview.com/?p=62</a><br /><br /></div>"<i>Testing battery life is notoriously difficult to do with any degree of accuracy: there are software programs that help test battery life, but using software is a synthetic test that doesn’t always accurately reflect real-world scenarios. The only way to get true, real-life battery tests is to duplicate the exact scenario in which you want to evaluate the battery performance. In this case, I wanted to test how long the Qtek 8500’s battery would last when playing music. Here’s how I did it.</i>"<br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/augusto-20060807-strtrk.bat.life.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/><br /><br />How far will one man go to test the battery life of his new Qtek 8500? Well, I can't tell you. You're just going to have to head over to <a href="http://www.twoinchview.com">The Two Inch View</a> to find out! I can tell you though, I was quite impressed with the results! ;)

Phones should not be used as music players. This should be a law.

Very interesting study.

Since we just learned from Mike Calligaro's post (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12002&amp;highlight=) that battery consumption varries based on the cellphone reception. I think that you need to turn off the phone and test it again. You're results could show a significant improvement if you're not very close to a cell tower and the phone had to work harder to keep the signal. Plus, it would be interesting to know how long you could go on a flight for before you're phone would just drop dead on you. ;)

I've been using my 8125 for an MP3 player all summer now, and it's been excellent. The battery life has been insane. I leave the cell reception on, and, for an example, today I listened for 4 hours 18 minutes, with 5 1/2 hours suspend - and I'm still at 85%. I've gone for a couple of days not charging before too.

I'd like my 8125 to be thinner to be a better music solution though, but that's my only gripe. That Qtek 8500 would fix that problem, but the battery isn't as good, I'd have to buy a microSD card (terrible, because I just got down to miniSD), and I hate the fact that you have to use their headphones.
