Now, the popular rumor says that since these puppies have shown up with rebates, they're in the pipeline for delivery next week. While we're hoping that's true, we're not betting on it."</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Jerry-smartflip_techdetail_1-sm.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />We aren't betting on it either. Our own Rocco Augusto thinks it will come in September. Whenever it comes it will be nice to have a new clam shell Smartphone. I am planning on getting the 3125 even in spite of the media buttons on the front. :)

Various sources that I still have in Cingular have all stated that this phone will launch sometime in September. With the successor to Cingular’s most popular phone waiting to enter the lineup, the new Motorola V3i music phone, Cingular just doesn't think it is a smart move to launch a competing music phone at this time. Depending on how well the V3i performs, we might see the 3125 in September or we might see it a bit after September.

Also I think it is best to note that the last person I talked to at Cingular couldn't stress enough that this will be the last Windows Mobile Smartphone to be released this year on the Cingular network. :(

This is so stupid. And yet it makes sense. I am guessing that Cingular has already bought X number of units of the V3i and also 3125. But the number of 3125 is of course less, lot less than the V3i. So they want to make sure their V3i inventory gets cleared. Sad. :-(

But on the other hand it is good for me. I will have some time to save for the 3125. I recently spent my Smartphone fund on LEGO Mindstorms NXT.

I hope you're not expecting to get a very good signal on that. ;)

Hmm..you just gave me an idea. I can probably make an NXT robot that moves my Smartphone around in the house till it finds the strongest signal on my cell.

I am looking for an upgrade to my Audiovox SMT5600 and I think the 3125 will be it.

Is there a way of unlocking this phone yet ???

On a related note, the SanDisk 2GB MicroSD is now available in Verizon stores. (I bought one today.) If you call SanDisk (or Verizon) to ask about their availability, they will tell you that they don't know exactly when it will be available. (I asked today.) However, the stores have them in the back. 8O

So, I bought my MicroSD from Verizon. 8)
I'll be getting my 3125 from Cingular. :?
And then, I'll unlock it and get my service from T-Mobile.

Hooray complicated ways of getting exactly what I want! :D

So far there has been no release of this from Cingular.
Only the mention on the rebate form.

I've been asking every time I walk by a Cingular store.
Everyone seems to KNOW abut the phone,
but no one knows WHEN this phone will be available.

One person told me to watch the Cingular site for web only promotions...

Don't know how true this will be.

In the meantime, there are several people on EBAY selling this phone.
I am really wary of buying anything from EBAY.
Has anyone been able to buy this phone yet ???

Pete...

This is going to (hopefully) be the wife's next phone, so I'm counting down the days!

Rocco, any word on the release date for the HTC Hermes/TyTn/8525 on Cingular? Thanks!

The clerks at my local Cingular store informed me that phones tend to start selling on their website before they are available in the actual stores.
