Overall year-on-year market growth of all smart mobile devices was largely unchanged from the previous two quarters at 55%, but converged device shipments (smart phones and wireless handhelds) rose 73%, while handhelds continued to slide, down 33% compared to the same period one year ago."</i><br /><br />Canalys has released their quarterly take on the Mobile market and once again the non-connected handheld segment has seen a significant drop down by 33% to just 1.4 million units last quarter. While smartphone shipments have increased by 75% compared to the same time last year. Motorola has also done really well in the last year. They've managed to jump past RIM and Palm to firmly seat themselves behind Nokia in second place. It looks like the next 12-14 months will be very interesting as Windows Mobile starts to really turn the heat on and vendors start to ship some new and innovative devices. :D
