I tried using the free version of SmartGPS on my T-Mobile SDA (USA) and it does not work. It runs but never locks on to any satellites. There is an error message but it flashes so fast on the screen that only Superman could read it. There are 14 COM port connections available in the software. Anything higher than COM5 and you get a message saying that you can't connect to the COM port. If I use COM ports 1-5 it appears to connect but never gets a lock and about every 30 seconds flashes the error message.

Just a question - how do you have a COM port on a Smartphone?

bshpmark - I dont know if you've looked at this yet, but if not, there's a user manual with detailed setup instructions available from the site. It's for the PRO version, but the same setup applies to the free edition. There's a hints and tips section right near the back with Bluetooth setup instructions.

The user guide is available here :

Do you have a GPS device? You need to have a Bluetooth based GPS Reciever. In regards to your COM port questions, they are "virtual" COM ports that the Bluetooth device uses to pair with your Smartphone and transfer data over a serial interface. 8)
